Alta Housing

Picture

This wall piece was commissioned by Alta Housing for their new Winton Court affordable housing building in the Ventura neighborhood of Palo Alto. Ventura was once the heart of the peninsula's canning industry serving the fruit and nut growers that were once so abundant. I wanted to reference this history by using foliage shapes of peach, walnut, cherry, fig, tomato, and pear. The use of reclaimed wood in the piece, and subtle relief references the vernacular of agricultural buildings and fruit crates, whilst the composition of vertical "slices" gives the long horizontal panel a cinematic feel.
