The first object he looked upon, that object he became ...


This piece comprises two mural panels on a wall marking the residential entry to this mixed use building in downtown Walnut Creek, CA. The title is from the Walt Whitman poem, "There was a child went forth", which describes how a child grows up to be a sum of all the things they are exposed to in life.

Each side of the wall has a 86x70 panel in cement and mixed media. The piece is located at The Mercer Building, North California Blvd (near the intersection with Trinity), Walnut Creek, CA . Installed 2008. Commissioned by the City of Walnut Creek and Prometheus Developments.
